Vande Mataram -- An Integral Part of Secular Indian Politics

Vande Maatram is well known as the National Song of our country. These two words have been of major importance as many freedom fighters remembered them while being sentenced to rigorous punishments and death sentences. Vande Maatram or ''Hail the Motherland'' has more than distinct importance..

Written by Bankim Chandra and sung by Rabindranath Tagore it became one of the most prominent slogans of the Indian Freedom Movement.
Vande Maatram has also been controversial since 1937 as many Muslim Organizations find it unislamic and against the Sharia Law. Recently a prominent Islamic Organization Jamiat-ulema-e-Hind declared a fatwa or an edict against singing of Vande Maatram by the Muslims. They claim that a Muslim cannot pay allegiance to any other than Allah.

I think there is no religion which doesn't allows to respect their Mother and Motherland. No particular religion is so fragile that mother and Motherland cannot be bowed upon.. So this claim of the organization doesn't stand because even Islamic countries like Iran, Bangladesh, Egypt has national anthems in which they compare their countries to imaginary mother and bow in Salutation.

Many pro Indian Muslims have defied this edict and say that they find nothing unislamic in the singing of Vande Maatram.. Some of them Includes the union minister Salman Khurshid and Gujarat DGP Shabbir Hussain.

This issue should not be made controversial and a political issue. Nationality is always above Religion and everyone should respect the song. Motherland should always be holier than the Holy. We should never let religion precede nation..

''Bhagwa Safed Hara, Jeevan Chakra mera!
Bhartiya hi jiya, Bhartiya hi mara!!''

Particularly second part of vande mataram inspires me more.. Many donno that such a part exist.. Twam hi durga dashapraharana dharini etc comes in second part, i mean non popular part(thanks to so called secular congress free dom fighter for not popularising it),. Vande mataram song as its full should be popularised atleast as our anthem.. Any idea you can give?

I am of a view that Vande Maatram, the real unedited version should be our National Anthem and not Jana Gana Mana which was written by Rabindra nath Tagore in honor of queen Victoria... the passion for motherland that Vande Maatram lyrics has in it can be felt in no other song... it really should be our National Anthem... and as far as our appeasers are concerned then i think we should ourself throw those people out of our country who doesnt want to sing it....

Rightly said about vandemataram, but jana gana mana should remain as national anthem, tagore wrote it addressing the almighty, but congressi people asked him for a poem to welcome that king, tagore said:i've writterm it addressing the almighty, you can take it.." and later wat u said happened... "Chacha"ji's secular atheistic mindset insulted the vande mataram by not making it national anthem, but due to pressure by hindu org it was given the title by nat song. But no one cared about the song...Now the situation is very pathetic.. Many of us even donno even the popular part of vandemataram. This song as its should be popularised. But how is my question?

When we sing jana gana we should deliberately forget this dark history attached (due to congressi foolishness) and sing it with great patriotic spirit..When we sing Jai He we should jaikar the god almighty..
Jai he jai he jai he...

This is the real song,, ur question is as correct as the meaning of these lyrics...

this part was edited by the Congress to appease the muslims... Im also of the view that atleast Hindu organisations sing the whole song instead of the shortened version....
